The challenge was to compose an Egyptian inspired piece of music using the Double Harmonic Scale. The results made me smile.
It looks like Annabelle and Carissa had a fun weekend as they celebrated the Astley Youth Band’s 20th Anniversary playing in the musical march from St Stephen’s Church to Dam House. Many thanks to Mrs Nongpluh for the photographs.
Incredible, amazing, wonderful, awesome, marvellous, outstanding. Choose any of these words as they can all be applied when talking about Thursday night’s performance. Well done to each and every member of the school choir you have made us all very proud.
The music room is about to become an even more colourful place with the addition of this finely hand crafted banner which was very skilfully made by the Y7 pupils at The Blue Coat Academy in Oldham. Having given the pupils the design brief to fill the empty wall in our classroom, they designed and created an appliquéd patchwork banner containing their favourite music related imagery. We are very grateful for all their hard work and we would like to thank everyone who was involved in its production.
Each year in the month of June the school choir prepares for a festival of song and music. After months of preparation Bolton schools come together to perform songs for an audience of knee knocking proportions. This year we have a 50 member choir and an accompanying pop band all made up of our very own little treasures. We very much hope that you will be there to witness this amazing event and extend an invitation to you all.
Good luck guys.
